ADC3660, a new family of successive-approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) has been added by Texas instruments to its portfolio of high-speed data converters. Offering a superior dynamic range at low power consumption, this new ADC allowshigh-precision data acquisitionin industrial designs.
The ADC3660 family includes eight SAR ADCs in14-,16-, and 18-bit resolution. All these devices allow the designers to improve signal resolution, extend battery life and strengthen system protection. These new devices have sampling speeds ranging from10 to 125 MSPSand deliver up to80% lower latencythan competitive devices at similar speeds. The ultra-low latency of the device enables high-speed digital control loops in a wide variety of industrial systems to more accurately monitor and respond to voltage and current spikes.
The ADC3660 family of SAR ADCs allows the engineers to deliverexcellent noise performance and low power consumptionat the same time without compromising the other. The high sampling speeds and integrated features of the device reduce the number of components in the system, this eventually reduces the complexity of the system design.
